           Romulus & Remus were the twin sons of Mars, or Aries who was the the Roman/Greek god of War, and Rhea. They believed that since their mother was a princess and their father was the war god Mars. They decided to build a city on the shores of the Tiber.And since they both wanted to be the only king, in a fit of rage, Romulus picked up a rock, killed his brother, and made himself king, and Rome was started.
           The Twelve Tables was the Roman Republic and it was created because of what happened after a 16-year battle with their last king, Tarquin the Proud.
          Since Rome was the  heart of the empire,  other cities that were conquered, a road was built from that city back to Rome, and the roads were built in straight lines.Road signs were built and they were  called milestones. Milestones did not give any information about other towns in the area and only told how far it was back to Rome.

Romulus ruled the city on Palatine Hill and Remus ruled the city on Capitoline. Remus started teasing Romulus that his wall was too low, and they also wanted to rule both cities so Romulus killed Remus and named the cities Rome.
12 tables- After a 16 year fight with their last King Tarquin the Proud, the Romans deciede never to have a king again and to vote for a person that wants to rule. After this event the romans made ten rules that would apply to the people of Rome. The rules were to come to court when you were called to court, if your witness doesn't come to court then you can shout in front of his house once every three days, you have 30 days to pay if you don't pay you are taken to court by the person whom you own money and when no one can pay for you will be bound in chains that eigh 15 pounds or more,if a neighbors tree leans over your land then you can take legal action against it, if it's your tree then the fruit that falls from it is yours no matter where the fruit goes,if you are found guilty of having a fake witness then you are thrown down the Tarpeian Rock,no meetings allowed at night, a dead man should not be burried or burned in the city, marriages shall should not happen between plebeians and patricians, and it is unlawful to kill a thief by day.
Roman Roads- Everytime the Romanians conquered a city, a road was built from the city to Rome and there would be signs that said how far away the city was from Rome.
   Romans were the people that founded/created concrete, they built The Colosseum out of concrete. It is also a temple for the gods. They would fight and compete in the Colossuem.

The ancient greeks created statues of perfect people while the ancient romans didnt.       The upper and lower classes ate different stuff for breakfast. The lower class had dry bread and sometimes bread dipped in wine. The unemployed people would get free bread.  The upper class people ate fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, bread with honey. The reason they ate honey is because the had no sugar. The slaves cooked the food. Schoolboys would eat in a bakery.

The legend of Romulus and Remus shows , in the Greek's point of view, how Rome was started and how Rome had gotten the power of how to rule. This story was when Rome became and was a kingdom for over 200 years.
The Roman republic came into place right after the fall of their last king, Tarquin the Proud. The Romans changed into a republic because they were tired of being ruled by a king and so they wanted to vote on their laws and leaders. Rome became a republic in the year 509BC. After 50 years in this republic, the leaders of the republic wrote down certain laws and rules which became known as the "Twelve Tablets". They were called the "twelve Tablets" because they were organized into 12 sections of laws.


Rome had a republic government for over 500 years. Their republic government was composed of 2 elected consuls that acted as the head and the highest position of the government, a senate, and an assembly. People in the Senate were the leaders of patricians, who were rich and noble people families of Rome. The Senate established the laws of Rome. People in the Assembly were formed of plebeian citizens, who were middle class people. assembly voted on the laws and voted on who would be the next consuls. In Ancient Greece, Rome was the center of the civilization. Roman roads were made in straight lines and had milestones that told how far the area was from Rome and nothing about the other towns or cities.

They were engraved on tablets of metal and put on display for everyone to see. These laws were equal for everyone who was a citizen, rich or poor.

Next reading that I read was about 12 Tables. In the 12 Tables, I read about rules that the leader made over the years after Roman Republic was created. The rules were put on display in Forum of Rome so people could read them. Rich and poor citizens had equal rights. Third thing that I've read about was the Roman Roads. In ancient Rome, Rome was considered the heart of the empire. Many of the new cities that were created always had a road that led straight to Rome. There were Milestones that informed people how far it was back to Rome.
     Fourth reading was about Republic Government. Two elected consuls had to share the head of government. Consuls happened to be elected every year to rule in the highest position in government. Members of wealthy families were able to make laws. The last reading that I picked to read about was Entertainment. Many of the Events in the city were free. The small theatres were able to fit up to 7,000 people. Wealthy Romans enjoyed their time by inviting friends over for dinner party. There would be something going on, either it was a race or a festival.

Romulus and Ramus were two twins, sons of Rhea and Mars. She loved her sons, but they were being threatened by other goddesses and gods. So she put them in a basket and put them in the river; she figured her twins were cute enough that someone will want to adopt them. For a while they were fed by a she-wolf. Later a shepherd and the wife adopted them. When they grew up, they figured they didn’t want to be shepherds their whole life, they wanted to be kings. They raised the city of their own, on the shores of Tiber. They wanted to be the only king, so Romulus killed Remus and became king. This is when Rome started.
After the last King Rome had, the people wanted to choose their own leader, the people wanted to vote on the laws that they were going to follow. They made the Roman Republic on 509 BCE. The twelve tables were 12 sections written on tablets of metal, and put up in the Forum in Rome. These laws talked about property, family, marriage, crime, and in heritage. These were followed by all citizens in Rome. The people already knew these laws, but they were put up so that everyone will be able to see them and follow them.

Free entertainment was given in Rome. Races and fights were some events in arenas. Everyone could enjoy this entertainment. Except at night, wealthy people had oil lamps burning; and poor people couldn’t afford it. The theaters were very big, big enough to fit more than 7,000 people.

    In the reading we learned about Romulus and Rumus.The twin brothers,sons of the god of war,and creaters of Rome.But there could only be one king so Rumulus took a rock,killed his brother and made himself king.Also about the 12 tablets.These tablets where created after Rome decided to stop being controled by a king and wanted to vote on the leader.They also wanted to vote on laws and the romans made the Roman Republic in 509 B.C.The 12 tables are the written laws and are separated into sections.
    Rome was known as the heart of the empire.Every time a new city was conqured there whould be a road built that lead to Rome from that city.The roads also had mildstones which pointed the way to Rome.Most life pointed to Rome because it was the main city in the empire.

The laws always tried to be fair, although the only thing that mattered was that  they were written down.  The laws were engraved on tablets of metal and put on display at the Forum in the city of Rome, so that everyone could see them. These laws were the same laws for every Roman citizen, even if they were rich or poor. Very Good!
