Chandragupta was more as an adventurer than a king. He traveled from place to place to explore the land. He had a small amount of soldiers, but he slowly managed to conquer the land and gather more troops. After Alexander the Great left the Gandhara, Mauryans to the chance and they quickly conquered all of the Indus Valley, and of course, gained Gandhara and Arachosia.
Asoka or Ashoka, was a great conquering emperor. He began an agressive campaign, because he wanted to conquer the rest of the subcontinent. The conquest of Kalinga seemed to be a great shok to Ashoka. He then notived that the wars and the conquests were always bloody and cruel. He then decided to follow Buddhism.

Chandragupta was similar to Alexander the great because they both had small armies but won many battles. Chandragupta brought most of India together. Asoka was a good conquering king. We are able to have a good source of history of Asoka’s reign since he left records of his proclamations. Once a war was very cold and bloody gave Asoka big impression in him. Asoka needed answers and tried to find this in religion. Asoka later became a Buddhist. Siddhartha Gautama founded Buddhism, when Siddhartha tried to find the right path in life. Buddhism changed Asoka a lot. It was not possible for Asoka to include Buddhism in his Government but he still did some changes. Asoka became a vegetarian and no laws were said to kill a person.

Chandragupta ruked the Maurya from 321-297 B.C. He was  an adventurous guy and it is said rather than a king. When he had started constructing the Maurya he had almost no army whatsoever. Once Alexander the great departed from Gandhara, a power vacuum was left in Western India which Maurya took advantage of. He had also defeated the Greek rulers of Persia and Bactria, the seleucids.
Asoka is the third king of the Maurya Empire and the last. He ruled from 272-232. He is the great conquering king of the Maurya empire. Ashoka had monumental edicts on Buddhism carved into rocks and caves throughout his empire.

Chadragupta Maurya began his rule with almost no army whatsoever. He seized the region of Magadha and then conquered the entire Ganges basin. When Alexander the Great left Gandhara, Maurya took advantage of western India. Marching westward, he quickly conquered the entire Indus Valley, and eventually gained Gandhara and Arachosia after defeating the Greek rulers of Persia and Bactria, the Seleucids.
Chadragupta Maurya built his empire by the force of his arm, and Kautilya, the right hand man, designed the government. Once Asoka rose to the throne, he began an aggressive campaign to conquer the remainder of the subcontinent. He then conquered Kalinga. Asoka was so troubled by the conquest that he had a religious conversion. He became Buddhist and strove to get to the "middle way" between extremes. He became a vegetarian, renounced all warfare, and attempted to build an empire based on Buddhist principles.  This did not work for him because if a riot or an uplifting started, he would have to send his soldiers to go and fight them and kill them. The fighting conflicted with his faith.

CHANDRAGUPTA TOOK ADVANTAGE OF A POWER VACUUM THAT WAS LEFT IN WESTERN INDIA. SOON HE TOOK CONTROL OVER ALL OF THE INDUS VALLEY AND SOON GAINED GANDHARA AND ARACHOSIA(THE SIDE WITH MORE MOUNTAINS OF THE WEST INDUS). KAUTIYLA DESIGNED THE GOV'T. THE TWO TOGETHER CREATED THE FIRST UNIFIED STATE IN INDIAN HISTORY. THIS GOVERNMENT THESE TWO MEN CREATED WAS VERY STRICT WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO ECONOMICS. ASOKA WANTED GOOD KARMA, AND HGE KNEW THAT WAR AND CONQUEST ARE ALWAYS BLOODY AND CRUEL, SO HE DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO BUDDISM, WHICH WAS HARD FOR HIM BECAUSE OF WHAT HE DOES FOR A LIVING. THE SPREAD OF BUDDISM HIGHLY AFFECTED THE RELIGIOUS HISTORY OF ASIA. THIS SPREAD WAS BECAUSE OF ASOKA.

Ashoka was considered one of the greatest conquering kind of the Maurya empire. He ruled from 272-232BC, in his ruling War and conquest are always bloody and cruel, and the experience of massive homicide is often an experience that shakes people to their very souls. So after Asoka noticed that he still wasn't happy he became a buddhist.
