The Islamic empire began in the Arabian peninsula spreading rapidly throughout the middle east then later spreading through north Africa, Spain and Sicily. In the 13th century Islam had spread through India and Southwest Asia. The Arab armies, use of common language and fair treatment of conquered people were the major reasons for the success in the spreading of Islamic empire. Arab cities conquered countries rapidly. Even though people were conquered, they were still treated fairly. The Islamic holy book was the Quran. To be able to read the Quran one had to learn how to speak Arabic. This language united many different ethnic groups and made easy the exchange of knowledge. Then became the start of the age under the ruling of Abbassid who ruled from the 8th century until the mid 13th century. This was an era of stunning intellectual and cultural achievements. The Arab, Persian, Egyptian, and European traditions mixed with the Islamic culture. In the 15th century during the Reconquista, in Spain was when Islam lost its power. The style of geometric shapes and patterns was developed from religious artists who would use this style for religious art since human figures were forbidden in religious art. The Islamic architecture was influenced by the Byzantine Empire. Islamic literature was mostly based on the Quran or the joys and sorrows of love or stories from culture. The philosophy texts, Chinese, Indian, and ancient Greek texts which were translated by scholars, influenced many cultures. Indian and Greek mathematics were studied by scholars and they contributed discoveries of their own. There also advancements in the medical field, economic, achievements, and law.

The Islamic people were very prosperous during their golden age, and for most of their time. Their people achieved many great advances in the arts, math, literature, and science. They were a peaceful culture and converted many people to Islam, their people of the time were very smart and achieved many great ideas, and other countries took these ideas into their own culture to improve their social status.
The Muslims dedicated most of their lives to accomplish great achievements. Their dedication to their education was mostly brought about by their curiosity to life's mysteries and the truth behind many things that were unclear to the people at the time. After the fall of Rome, the education at the time suffered greatly, then the Islamic people brought back scholars to study Greek, Indian, and Persian scriptures into the Arabic language so people could study advancements of other civilizations and teach the people in equality amongst different cultures.
The capital of Islam, Cordova was considered a center of knowledge for the people, it housed many public schools, libraries and bookstores, with a population of 300,00 at the time every one had a great access to an education. Muslim medical knowledge at the time was prospering also, the many great men who gave the world great achievements in medicine were al-Razi, and Ibn Sina, these men made new medical tools for surgery and made new medicines to heal wounds. The men also wrote books that helped western civilization with medical problems.
Muslims also achieved great advancements in astronomy and the tracking of the night skies, they used tools they created to map stars, planets and their movements, this helped to created calendars for the people at the time. Muslim people were also making great advancements in architecture, they studied the architecture of other civilizations, and incorporated those ideas into their own architecture. They made great domes, arches and towers many civilizations that would come after would use these achievements in architecture and use it in for their architecture.
There is no doubt that the Islamic people weren't great during their prosperous time, and that their ideas on the arts, math, science, literature and astronomy wont be forgotten for a very long time.
