Our friends at "Teachers Love SMART Boards" have brought a wonderful site to us from the Oak Street Elementary School in Plattsburgh, NY. It has a range of interactive stories for K-5 classrooms. Here's an image from one of the stories. Enjoy!

Happy Groundhog Day - February 2, 2009

Groundhog Day is a great favorite here in New York. It's the day that we watch to see if a groundhog sees its shadow and predicts when Spring will finally arrive. Not very scientific, of course, but great fun.

Here's a lesson from Jim Hollis that contains some new SmartBoard techniques. Enjoy!

Attention: Music Teachers!

Here's new software to use with your SmartBoard. Finale Notepad software is a music education application from MakeMusic! Inc. that is is available as a no-charge download for SMART customers. When used with a SMART Board interactive whiteboard, this software brings students to the front of the class to experiment with and control their own music. With Finale Notepad, students can do the following:

Compose, print and play music
Choose instruments or voices to perform music
Select musical notations and arrange them on music sheets
Print musical scores
Publish scores on the Web
Enter lyrics to go with your music

SMART Table - Reaching Tactile Learners in Pre K-3

Isn't technology amazing?! SMART is now introducing a SMART Table that brings tactile instruction down to the student level for Pre-K-3ers. Using the same technology that's in the free-standing and wall mounted SmartBoards, the SMART table allows students to manipulate objects on a much more personal level, in small groups or alone. See the attached link for videos of the students in action.
