At PS 92 Q Ms. Dakis and her class are researching and enjoying the warm tropic breezes of Honolulu, Hawaii.  Students learned that Honolulu is the captial of Hawaii. They also learned that Hawaii is part of the United States and their money is the US dollar. Did you know that the Hawaiian alphabet has 12 letters? Some languages spoken there are Enlglish, Spanish, and Hawaiian.  Congratulation to Ms. Dakis and her class.

Today I visited PS 116, located on Knickerbocker Avenue in Brooklyn. I was there to assist the teachers with the Title IID 3rd grade project. The first thing I noticed was how comfortable the students were with logging into Think.com, with very few exceptions, the children new their usernames and password.  Secondly, students had just begun researching their community, Puerto Rico and I was impressed with how much students already knew.  Anxious to share, they rattled off such accurate information as Puerto Rico is an island, the climate is tropical and it is a common wealth of the United States.

I look forward the seeing the rest of the research that the students conduct about their community and viewing their results during the next phase of the project. Students will post the results of their research, using text, pictures, and lists on the Puerto Rico group pages hosted by their teachers.
